    Cold emails have 1-5% response rate. Warm introductions convert at 30-50%. Introduction hierarchy from strongest: Tier 1 Portfolio Founders (strongest voice), Tier 2 Co-Investors (professional respect), Tier 3 Professional Network (lawyers, accountants, executives), Tier 4 Personal Network (friends, family, alumni), Tier 5 Loose Connections (barely better than cold). Finding the right path: List target investors (50-100), map your network using LinkedIn and portfolio research, rank introduction paths by relationship strength, prioritize top paths. Making the ask: Do not ask directly for intro. Instead make it easy by sending why you want to meet this specific investor, a forwardable blurb, and any connection points. Use opt-in double introduction: your contact emails investor asking if they want intro, if yes emails you both, you reply-all with pitch. When no path exists: build relationships before you need them, create indirect paths through portfolio founders, make cold outreach warm-ish with specific references.
